“I love how FCA have just stopped giving a fuck about being sensible.” ~ Some guy on Reddit.

I think car manufacturers are finding that an attainable halo car will help sell the lesser models AND will sell by itself. Gone are the days of the Viper being the halo car to sell the Stratus.

I hate mopar with a passion and think they are all unreliable pieces of plastic strapped to other shittier pieces of plastic. With this said what they announced today is incredible and should give ford some friendly competition. Now if only chevy would wake up

Hmm all that’s missing is:
Hot hatch(es)
Fast wagons
Fast SUV
Desirable full size SUV
Luxury SUV
Sports car
Halo car/mid engine super car
It should be noted that not only do they have several cars to fit these roles already in other markets but they have had them here in the states and cancelled them in addition to canceling entire awesome brands like pontiac and saab. They are really lacking today

The majority of comparable brands do not have a hot hatch, the wagon segment is nearly dead to say nothing of the “fast wagon” segment, fast SUVs are a niche outside the luxury market, the Tahoe and Suburban are by most accounts more desirable than any of their competitors, they are not a luxury brand and have no need for a luxury SUV, and the Corvette fills the last two requirements.

I guess my point is a brand should have more than 3 cool cars. Even if you add the ats v and chevy ss that’s only 5.
Ford has:
Mustang
Fiesta st
focus rs/st
Ford gt
Taurus sho
Ford raptor
Lincoln continental
And potentially a new bronco with promise of 9 new performance cars in the near future
FCA now has:
Dart glh
Charger
Challenger
Cuda
124 spider
Grand cherokee hellcat
Fiat 500 abarth
Jeep wrangler
Jeep wagoneer
Power wagon
All I’m saying is chevy is slacking on enthusiast and non enthusiast offerings. I neglected listing all the great normal cars ford makes like the fusion and flex but truth is their lineup is very solid. Same with cfa aside from shit quality they have a car for almost every demographic. And I wouldn't be as salty if chevy didn't cancel all the cool shit like saturn sky cobalt ss cts v wagon trailblazer ss etc. they need to wisen up and as stated not rely on the corvette to sell cruzes like dodge used to use the viper to sell stratuses.

The Corvette can’t sell Cruzes because there is zero relation between the two in branding, aesthetics, or visibly applied technologies.
On the other hand, the Ford GT has both the Ford and EcoBoost brandings plastered all over it, actually does use the EcoBoost technology like the more pedestrian cars, and is visually linked to those same pedestrian cars with the choice in color scheme.
Ford has been executing their marketing flawlessly, while GM doesn’t have a clue. I will say, though, that the Camaro absolutely tramples the Mustang as an actual performance car, the SS is a much nicer car than the Taurus SHO, and that FoMoCo has absolutely nothing to compete directly against the Cadillac -V and V-sport models or the Corvette. Focus RS, though...I hope it inspires GM to get into the hatch game properly.

To be fair, even Motortrend stopped drinking the Z06 koolaid, because what good is a track car that overheats on the track, or the interstate, or anywhere? So there are two decent examples left.

GM makes some awesome cars, but their mainstream cars just aren’t competitive. They sell Alright, but there isn't a single mainstream model that would win a class comparison. I'm really hoping the new Malibu and Cruze can help change that.

They are competitive, they just aren’t winning the competition.

I was talking about the Corvette in general, and just using the most impressive version.

Would not have Hellcat. Would definitely have one of these!

Why waste fun engine in a stupid SUV? At least used Hellcat engines should start appear in vast numbers at wrecking yards when these things start to get out of hands.
Charger is going to get smaller and Hellcat engine is unlikely to fit in the new model. I hope that Hellcat Challengers will still exist in the future.
